Eka emalikoru valmiina - The first enameled piece readymade

Sain eilen tehtyä koruksi asti yhden emalikurssin paloistani. Tässä prosessissa hauska juttu oli, että riipuksen teko oli ihan selvä homma, mutta piti istua yksi workshopilta melkein käsi poskella, kun en keksinyt kuinka rakentaa ketju. Mikään perinteinen malli ei inspannut ja en keksinyt sitten muutakaan.

Toissa päivänä opiskelukurssilla oli ryhmätöiden purkua ja siinä katsellessani yhtä ryhmää huomasin yhdellä rouvalla reippaan kokoisen kaulaketjun, jossa oli erilaisia palasia mielivaltaisessa järjestyksessä ja BINGO, tässä mun idea sitten oli.

Yesterday I finally finished one enameled piece into a piece of jewellery. Funny thing in this process was that iy was clear and evident what to do as a pendant, but I needed to sit one workshop evening without an idea how to create the chain. None of the traditional models inspired me.

Day before yesterday then in the study course we had workgroup de-briefing. While watching the fellow colleagues to present I noticed one lady to wear nice piece of jewellery with loosely and randomly hanging loops and shapes. BINGO! here was my idea.

Above is the realisation of this idea.

Isot renkaat juotin ja vasaroin hiukan litteäksi, etteivät ole ihan ketjupakasta vedetyn näköisiä. Taustaan tein perinteistä 2-2 ketjua vaihdellen reinkaiden kokoa (2 isoa, 2 pienempää). Tää on aika bling bling and kuitenkin ilmava ja kevyt!

Big links I soldered and hammered, so that they would not look too directly drawn from a pack. To the back I created traditional 2-2 chain with 2 bigger loops and 2 smaller loops. Quite bling bling but still airy and light!

Emalikurssilta hengissä! - Alive from enameling class!

Tänään viimeisenä emalointikurssipäivänä (kaikkiaan 4 kokonaista työntäyteistä päivää) sisäinen lapseni pääsi valloilleen. Hopean hinta kun on mitä on, nöyrryin kokeilemaan kuparille emalointia. Autotallin kautta kurssille ja hihat heilumaan. Päivä olikin oikein sydämellinen!

Today on the last day of the enameling course (of total 4 days full of work) my inner child got loose. The price of silver having skyrocketed, I needed to humble myself for using copper. So via garage to the course and just work all day. What a heartful day it was!

Emaloinnin mielenkiintoinen juttu on, että erilaiset emalit reagoivat toistensa kanssa ja vasta kokemuksen kautta voi ehkä pystyä hyvin ennustamaan lopputuloksen. Itsellä se on yritystä ja erehdystä. Tässä yksi kelvollinen biitti, jossa kulta poreilee teollisuuspunaisen kanssa. Mutta mistäs tuo sininen tuli, kun en sitä siihen ollenkaan laittanut?

One interesting aspect of enameling is that different enamels react with each other and only after long experience you may forecast the result. For me it is purely trial and error. Here is pictured one of the adequate pieces where gold is shimmering through factory red. But where did the blue come from, I never applied any blue here?

Sain kokeilla eri tekniikoita: kuivalevitystä, märkälevitystä, raapetekniikkaa...

I got to try out different techniques: dry application, wet application, scratching...

Tämänkin olisi pitänyt krakleerata, mutta sen sijaan se päätti tehdä kauniin kiillon ja kulta jäi hiukan karheeksi. Oikein kaunis pala tämäkin!

This should have had a crackle effect but it decided not to, instead it formed quite nice shine and the gold remained little bit rough. But quite nice piece this too!

Silver parts, as whole. And I needed to be almost carried away today, as I was totally consumed at the course. I think this will not be the end of my enameling career. Thank you Ilona T and other classmates!

Hopeakurssin aikaansaannoksia - Some results from the local silver course

Harvoin saa näin paljon kiitosta, kuin tänä päivänä, kun mulla oli nämä minun uudet korut päällä. Ehkä se, että nämä oli ikäänkuin samaa sarjaa sai aikaan sen. Kivi on oma hioma ja tietysti kaikki korut omatekeleitä. Olivat ihan tyylikkäitä mustan trikoon kanssa. Yksinkertaista, mutta toimivaa.

Hardly ever have I got so many compliments as today, when wearing the above new pieces of jewellery. Maybe so, as these were clearly from the same series. The stone I have cut myself, as well as done the pieces. They were quite stylish when worn with a black t-shirt. Simple, but functional.

Tässä luovuus otti ylivallan eli ns. romukoru. Tohotusta koko voimalla, niin että pelti kärvää ja sitten perinteinen sarja istutus.

Here the creativity overpowered me. Torching with the highest volume so that the plate will melt and adding the traditional bezel setting.

Rikkana rokassa, viimeistelin 15 minuutin sormuksen, eli kannat hopealusikoita yhdellä saumalla yhteen ja muutama naputus sormuspinnalla. Kas, hieno hopea sormus on käytössä. Ensi kerralla teen hiukan pitemmästä aihiosta, että saan ne enemmän limittäin.

Last but not least, 15 minutes ring from the end of silver spoons soldered with one seam. Alas, nice ring to wear! Next I will use longer material, just to get the ring align more.
