Vieroitusoireita; Withdrawal syndromes

Kakkosviikko kurssilla meni tosi intensiivisesti kun aamulla piti rynniä jo heti kahdeksan pintaan ja venyttää iltapäivästä niin pitkään kuin sai olla koululla. Oli mukavaa ja palkitsevaa saada pusata ihan koko tarmolla välillä onnistuen ja välillä taas nöyrästi korjaten erityisesti juotoksiaan.

The second week on the course went so fast, especially when I had to hurry for the course as early as the school opened and to leave only when they almost threw us out in the afternoon. So much fun to just try out everything, every now and then with success and then without success needing to re-do from the beginning.

Yksi uusi aihe oli takominen.

One new subject was hammering.

Erityisesti opin ymmärtämään hehkuttamisen merkityksen metallin ja hopean työstössä.

I especially learned the meaning of heating the metal during the working it.






Käytiin läpi perusmuodot mitä saa aikaan kiilapää-, pallopää- ja suorapäisillä vasaroilla. Käytännössä pääsi kokeilemaa sitten muokata palkista ässän muotoisen tai kasin. Siinä sai kyllä hiukan hikoilla ja hakata. Todella terapiaa!

We went through the basic shapes you can get with different types of hammers. And we practised to get s-shape and 8- shape from a piece of I-shaped brass. I took some effort in hammering. Real anger therapy!

Kaiken kaikkiaan kurssin perusviestinä oli tarjota näkemys perustekniikoista: viilaus, sahaus, juottaminen ja takominen. Kuulemma kaikki muu on sitten näiden soveltamista ja hiukan mielikuvitusta. Ainakin siis Kuikan mukaan (toinen opettajista, lempinimi). No, ehkä myös harjoitusta. Kuvassa mun aikaansaannokseni harjoituksista. Viilaus jäi kesken, kun sain tangon katki , ....siis viilalla :-) ja en sitten joutanut viriksien takia sitä tekemään loppuun (viris = opinto-ohjelman ulkopuolinen työ/projekti).

In summary, the message from the course was to offer practise on 4 basic techniques: filing, sawing, soldering and hammering. Hearsay, that everythong from there on is applying those with some imagination. At least according to Black-throated Diver (Kuikka), name being the nickname for one of the teachers. Maybe you need also some practise in addition to the previous. In the picture my practices. The filing went so well that I managed to saw the bulk into 2 pieces, and did not have time to finish it due to all the extras (extras = projects outside the learning agenda).

Meidän soveltava työ oli tehdä kulkuneuvo. Kuvassa mun roomalainen kärry. Huomatkaa kuinka monta "sormusta" olen saanut tehtyä siihen. Pyörät tietysti myös pyörivät.

Applying the new techniques, our proejct work was supposed to be a vehicle. I did a Roman carriage. note how many "rings" I managed to put into the piece. The wheels, of course, roll.

With the little help of my friends, i.e. added with Laura's elephant...............

Opittiin kaikenlaista muutakin, mm. miten tehdään valu kotiolosuhteissa (siis, jos saat esim. hopean sulaksi oikeasti).

We learned many other things as well, such as, how to cast silver at home conditions (provided that you can melt the silver really).

Puolessa välissä viikkoa "lapset" löysivät koulun valssit ja syntyi aika monta valssattua kuparilankaa, joista juottamalla ja hopeoimalla syntyi sormuksia ja rannekoruja vähän itse kullekin.

In the middle of the week we found the rolling machine. Hence, a great lot of rings and bracelets were born by soldering and silverplating.

Loppuviikosta kokeilin ihan hopeaakin eli pari sormusta ja taottu riipus.

At the end of the week I tried silver, thus couple of rings and a hammered pendant.

Tää ei ole mun työ, mutta yksi mies tekaisi ihan omaksi ekaksi hopeataontatyöksi viskikuksan. Nostan hattua Sepolle!

Just to show a brave work. One guy in the course just took and hammered a whiskey mug as his first ever silver hammering work. Applaudes to Seppo!

Nyt pitää sitten hankkia omat työvälineet seriöösiin hopeatyöhön. Vieroitusoireisiin kävin jo kirjautumassa lähiseudun Kansalaisopiston kursseille syksyllä.

Now I need to acquire my own tools for serious silver works. For withdrawal syndromes I already managed to enroll myself to couple of courses in the nearby evening institute.
